The Modern Gurukula System at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute has evolved the concept of ‘Self-Reliance Departments’ wherein students participate in different activities associated with the daily functioning of various hostel facilities. This cultivates in the students the virtues of responsibility, humility, commitment and dignity of labour.

‘Sai Publications’, the Publications Division of the Sri Sathya Sai Hostel for Senior Students is one such department which has the onerous task and the privileged responsibility of coordinating the compilation and publication of Books based on the Life and Message of the Revered Founder Chancellor – Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The Publications Division is registered as a Publishing House with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India vide their letter no. 909128/2009-ISBN dated July 27, 2009 and Category 4/2010-ISBN dated February 1, 2011.

Sai Publications mainly publishes Books compiled / authored by the students and staff of the Hostel and the Institute. These are based on the Discourses given by Baba to His students and staff, experiences of the staff and students during their stay at the Institute, and Books on Indian Culture and Spirituality, the Sri Sathya Sai System of Integral Education and Values-based Management. It also compiles Books which are useful to the students while participating in the daily schedule and activities of the Institute. The Sai Publications Division also compiles a quarterly in-house magazine ‘Sai Chandana’, named by Baba Himself almost 25 years ago. This magazine is prepared by the students and is released for the festivals of Guru Pournima, Ganesh Chaturthi, Birthday Celebrations and Shivaratri.

Sai Publications has the unique opportunity of compiling books which are useful to the student and academic community of Baba’s Educational Institutions at Prashanti Nilayam, and over 100 other Sai Educational Institutions, Schools and Colleges in the other parts of India and the world. This opportunity has got extended when Baba’s devotees from across the globe have expressed their keen interest in reading the valuable material compiled in these books. The Sai Publications Books form an ideal reading material for members of the Youth Wing of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, for students of Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas Programme, Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) Programme and Sri Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSSEHV) Programme. They act as very useful material for ‘Study Circle’ discussions among youth members and would make very good reading for the various moral class and spiritual awareness class sessions that are conducted in various Sai Educational Institutions in the country and abroad. In fact, the books cater to students, youth and devotees from all regions and of all times. The Sai Publications Books have been collated for catering to this crucial segment of students, youth and devotees who are the torch bearers of Baba’s Divine Mission.

Over the last half a decade, the number of Books published by Sai Publications has increased from 5 to over 20. To respond to the ever-increasing number of queries received from devotees, students, academics, researchers and professionals across the globe, this website has been set up. The main objective of this website is: To provide information about all Books compiled by Baba's students at the Sri Sathya Sai Hostel for Senior Students, Prashanti Nilayam.

We, the members of the Sai Publications team of students, consider it an immense blessing to have been given this rare opportunity of being ‘The Messengers of the Lord’.
