Onam

The day commenced on a soul-stirring note with the Suprabhatam session, where students gathered for their morning prayers. To their astonishment and delight, they were greeted by a mesmerizing sight that transformed the ambiance of the hostel into a realm of ethereal beauty. The hostel was adorned with exquisite Onam decorations, featuring intricate floral arrangements, vibrant Pookalam (floral carpets), and traditional motifs that captured the essence and spirit of Onam. The students found themselves immersed in a visual treat, as the decorations radiated a sense of warmth, harmony, and reverence associated with this sacred festival.


As the day progressed, the aroma of authentic Kerala cuisine wafted through the air, heralding the much-anticipated Sadya—the grand feast synonymous with Onam celebrations. Students from Kerala, with their culinary expertise and unwavering commitment to preserving tradition, took the lead in preparing and serving the delectable Sadya, ensuring an authentic and memorable experience for the entire hostel community.


The Sadya was a delight, featuring a lavish spread of delicacies ranging from Avial, Thoran, and Pachadi to the irresistible Payasam and Ada Pradhaman. Each dish was prepared with meticulous care, using traditional recipes and ingredients that resonated with the authentic flavors and textures of Kerala cuisine. The students, donning traditional attire, exuded warmth and hospitality as they served the Sadya, fostering a sense of unity, camaraderie, and shared joy among everyone present.


The Onam celebrations were not just a tribute to Kerala's cultural heritage but also a testament to the hostel's ethos of 'Each living for the other and all living for God'.
