About Us

Sri Sathya Sai Hostel at Prashanti Nilayam was inaugurated by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Revered Founder Chancellor, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed to be University). Students pursuing undergraduate, Post Graduate, and Doctoral Research Programmes at the Prashanti Nilayam Campus of the Institute stay in this Hostel along with the residential hostel faculty members.

Described as, ‘A home away from home, where each lives for the other and all live for God’, Sri Sathya Sai Hostel is an integral and vital component of the Sri Sathya Sai System of Values-based Integral Education modeled on the ancient Indian Gurukula System of Education where the students lived in the Ashram of the Guru and would take care of the daily functioning of the Ashram.

SSSSBH: A Journey Through Four Decades of Divine Harmony

Established on November 19, 1980, with the divine inauguration by Swami, the hostel at SSSIHL became a cherished haven for His dear boys. The festive atmosphere included musical tributes, special performances, and a shared meal with Swami, creating enduring memories.

Two days before the hostel's inauguration, Swami graced the auspicious milk boiling ceremony, an event captured in a cherished photograph featuring Sri Chenna Reddy, then Governor of Punjab. Swami, in His endearing manner, personally attended to the milk boiling on a simple kerosene stove, engaging with the boys and imparting blessings.

The hostel officially opened its doors on Christmas Day, December 25, 1980, symbolizing a new beginning. Over the past four decades, the hostel has remained a "home away from home," fostering a spirit of camaraderie and devotion. As a witness to the enduring bond between the students and their hostel, it stands as a testament to the timeless values instilled within its walls.
